Kromans 2009scape

A private world running the open-source 2009scape server. The download below is their official client, already aimed at this world.

Download the client

Windows and Linux are in one zip. It includes the game jar, a config that points at 192.168.0.210, and a play script for each system. Run the play script. Opening the jar by itself skips that config.

Download client

Install Temurin Java 11 first. There is no separate cache download. The client pulls the cache from the server the first time it connects.

How to play

  1. Unzip the download.
  2. Windows: run Play-Windows.bat. Linux: run Play-Linux.sh.
  3. Create an account on the login screen. A password is required.

The game listens on TCP 43595. On this house network the client connects straight to 192.168.0.210.

If a copy you already unzipped is stuck on "Connecting to update server", open its config.json and set both ip_management and ip_address to 192.168.0.210. Save, close the client, and start it again with Play-Windows.bat or Play-Linux.sh.

Playing over Tailscale

In config.json, set ip_management and ip_address to 100.91.240.106.

Playing from the internet

This house has two routers. The TP-Link already forwards TCP 43595 to this server. The outer router, whose public address is 150.228.123.185, still has to forward TCP 43595 to 192.168.1.94. After that exists, set both addresses in config.json to world.kromans.com.

Source

Server source is gitlab.com/2009scape/2009scape (AGPL-3.0). The client jar is the upstream RT4 build. The only code change on this host is the world-list address, which is world.kromans.com instead of 127.0.0.1. That change is in patch.txt.
